Since the wars of the 1990s and 2008, regions like Abkhazia and South Ossetia have broken away under Russian influence, leaving the country divided and its sovereignty challenged. The presence of Russian troops near these frontiers is a constant reminder of unresolved conflicts.Inside Georgia, different communities live side by side — Georgians, Armenians, Azeris, Ossetians — each with their own culture and history. This diversity is part of the country’s identity, but also brings political tensions.
